ABSTRACT
Economic narratives are largely put forward as an argument for the promotion of Nature Based Solutions (NBS). However, integrated economic evidence, taking into account direct and opportunity costs, avoided damages multiplicity co-benefits generated by NBS still needed to support this convince decision makers invest in these solutions. To address gap, we develop a methodological framework assessment water related risks present its application three European case studies. We find that cost implementation maintenance is lower strategies than grey solutions same level risk reduction, thereby confirming cost-effectiveness advantage Benefits terms however generally not sufficient cover costs. Co-benefits represent major share monetary value strategies. Finally, results cost-benefit analysis reveal context-specific on overall efficiency NBS. These urge tailor funding specificity value.
