ABSTRACT
SMART100 is a small sized integral type pressurized water reactor (PWR) with rated thermal power of (Chung et al., 2015) 365 MW, which adopts various inherent and passive design features to enhance safety. Most the primary circuit components, such as core, coolant pumps, steam generators, pressurizer are contained in single leak-tight pressure vessel. Due design, large pipes connecting major components removed. Thus, possibility break loss accident (LBLOCA) inherently eliminated natural circulation capability improved during transient. Also, has characteristics inventory per unit power, low core density, increased secondary system pressure. these characteristics, can mitigation wide range initiating events. In addition safety features, goals enhanced by systems residual heat removal (PRHRS) (Bae 2001) injection (PSIS). To confirm SMART100, deterministic analyses were performed for related basis events (SRDBEs). The results using an evaluation model TASS/SMR-S code conservative initial/boundary conditions assumptions show that acceptance criteria fuel integrity, radiation doses specified review guidelines well met. Therefore, adequately mitigate consequences all SRDBEs maintain plant safe shutdown condition without any AC or operator action at least 72 h.
