The association of dietary approach to stop hypertension (DASH) diet with hospitalization risk in patients with COVID-19

ABSTRACT
Given the importance of dietary habits in immune system, current study aimed at investigating association between Dietary Approach to Stop Hypertension (DASH) diet and risk hospitalization due COVID-19.Dietary data 141 patients with COVID-19 were collected using 147-item food frequency questionnaire. DASH score this cross-sectional was calculated based on eight components, including fruits, vegetables, legumes nuts seeds, whole grains, low-fat dairy, red or processed meats, sweetened beverages, sodium. Multivariable logistic regression models applied estimate OR 95% CI for each tertile score.Mean ± SD inpatients (n=74) outpatients (n= 87) 22.5 4.57 25.34 4.23, respectively. The highest 81% lower than lowest (OR=0.19, 95%CI: 0.07-0.55, P trend = 0.001 after adjustment age, sex, BMI, energy intake). Also, more intake vegetables dairy products less sodium, meat significantly associated reduced COVID-19.Our provide evidence that adherence DASH-style COVID-19.
