ABSTRACT
Abstract Using antibiotics causes selection pressure, with the consequence that bacterial populations develop resistance traits. This is an unavoidable side effect and does not detract from the value of antibiotics when properly used, given the immense benefits they bring. This paper proposed a national multiple levels action plan to addresses the Antibiotic resistance. It is recommended that an integrated multi-agency surveillance plan is drawn up and implemented to monitor AR in all microorganisms considered to be an actual or potential public health threat. This plan must encompass several key provisions. It should include interventions to be rolled out nationally, state by state, and locally, and clearly define the remit of each participant and the core capacities required for implementation at each administrative level.
