ABSTRACT
The paper validates novel structural reliability Gaidai-Fu-Xing (GFX) method, particularly suitable for multi-dimensional responses, versus well established bivariate statistical that is known to accurately predict two-dimensional system extreme response levels. Classic methods, dealing with time series do not have an advantage of easily high dimensionality and cross-correlation between different dimensions. An operating Jacket located in the Bohai bay was taken as example demonstrate proposed methodology. Novel state art bimodal extrapolation technique applied five years return period, which practical importance design fixed offshore structures. Unlike other methods new method does require re-start simulation each fails, case numerical simulation. In measured response, accurate prediction failure probability also possible illustrated this study. platform subjected large environmental wave loads, thus stresses critical locations were chosen opens up possibility simply efficiently nonlinear dynamic a whole.
