ABSTRACT
Predictions of relatively large cross sections (of about 1 picobarn) for synthesis super heavy nuclei Z=122 and Z=124 in cold fusion (1n) reactions symmetric 154Sm + 150Nd systems by R.K. Choudhury Y.K. Gupta (2014) [1] are examined. The authors state that this result had been obtained using the fusion-by-diffusion (FBD) model. As predictions original FBD model Swiatecki, Cap, Siwek-Wilczyńska Wilczyński definitely pessimistic regarding more (in comparison with equivalent asymmetric systems), we feel compelled to present excitation functions 154Sm(150Nd, 1n)303122 154Sm(154Sm, 1n)307124 reactions, calculated within In accordance our earlier a general trend hindrance near-symmetric systems, 303122 307124 nuclides these two found be extremely small probably never reachable: 10−11pb 10−13pb, respectively. It is shown their results (overestimating 11 13 orders magnitude) as an effect arbitrary physically unjustified interference
