ABSTRACT
BackgroundOlder adults have a high prevalence of chronic pain, which can substantial effect on their health and quality life. Patients’ use effective pain relief methods is central part the treatment management pain. The utilization perceived effectiveness are important knowledge for treating managing clinicians older adults. However, this has been poorly investigated.AimWe aimed to survey used by people treat manage as well effectiveness.MethodsA total 2,000 questionnaires were sent random sample aged 65 years age or living in Sweden 1,141 returned usable condition. A 433 participants reported having completed Pain Management Inventory map methods.ResultsThe was 38% most passive approaches, i.e., rest (60%), distractions (53%), non-prescribed medicine (49%), prescribed (44%). 72% respondents either medicine. active physical activity (52%). varied large extent each method, and, average, no method seemed be more than any other.ConclusionsKnowledge about actual guide recommending new approaches alternatives How aligned with current clinical recommendations could further explored future.
