Life cycle assessment (LCA) is a method that has been applied on numerous different types of product systems. Most these LCA studies concern full-market existing In our common search for more sustainable society, new technology systems are proposed which the environmental sustainability still needs to be proven. These emerging technologies often only function at lab- or pilot-scale, and process data also available scales, not observed scales. Performing LCAs poses challenges because relevant observations lacking with regards projected final system, unit data, characterization factors chemicals, etc. increasingly recognized addressed by community. this contribution we discuss challenges, special focus ongoing research recent developments.
