ABSTRACT
In this work, an alumina-nickel graded hollow cylinders were prepared by the centrifugal slip casting. paper, results for samples formed from slurries with different solid content: 45 vol.%, 40 vol.% and 35 are presented. The structure of after sintering was examined X-ray diffraction (XRD). microstructure composite, especially nickel particle size distributions investigated using scanning electron microscopy (SEM). An image analyzer has been used measurement volume fraction particles in composites. hardness measured a Vickers hardness-testing. Based on measurements KIC value determined. XRD confirmed only two phases: Ni α-Al2O3 all samples. preliminary macroscopic observation as well SEM showed, that sample cross-section is not homogeneous. Microstructural characterization revealed gradation content along radial direction cylinder. Three zones distinguished, outer surface towards inner side tube. maximum obtained at middle zone hardness-testing values observed region edge casting due to absence particles.
