ABSTRACT
Background: Pediatric pulmonary embolism (PE) is rare but can be lifethreatening.Improving awareness of those managing pediatric patients may lead to faster identification and management with improved survival.Risktaking behavior that promote hypercoagulability should considered.Aims: We aim emphasize importance multidisciplinary collaboration in cases critical thrombosis.Methods: reviewed a PE case.Results: A 17-year-old male no medical history presented acute chest pain respiratory distress elevated D dimer (16,445 ng/mL).Chest CT revealed extensive bilateral right heart strain.Anticoagulation was initiated he transferred our cardiac ICU.Echocardiography suprasystemic hypertension (PH) biventricular dysfunction.During anesthetic induction for insertion PA catheters thrombolysis (EKOS), experienced arrest placed on VA-ECMO.EKOS were subsequently continued 24 hours.He systemic bivalirudin per ECMO protocol.On day 2, function PH remained.Follow-up residual presumptive
