ABSTRACT
Unsaturated fatty acids contained in vegetable oils can be used as a raw material to produce epoxy through epoxidation reactions. This study aims obtain the optimum conditions for reaction of Terminalia catappa L. (local name "ketapang") seed oil. In this study, was carried out by reacting ketapang oil and mixture formic acid hydrogen peroxide, sulfuric catalyst. The obtained were temperature 45 °C, time 5 h, reactants molar ratio 1:4:5 (mol/mol). percentage oxirane oxygen content products synthesized using 3.46% with relative conversion 78%.
