Female urinary incontinence in China after 15 years’ efforts: Results from large-scale nationwide surveys

ABSTRACT
Urinary incontinence (UI) is a disease that quietly yet seriously impacts women's health and represents global burden often neglected. This study aims to systematically assess the prevalence dynamics of female UI in China, can inform further policies have international implications. used three nationwide investigations: A national cross-sectional survey 2021; another 2006; data regarding institutions physicians providing pelvic floor rehabilitation services from 2005 2019. The weighted its subtypes, including stress (SUI), urgency (UUI), mixed (MUI), were estimated as primary outcomes. Knowledge, attitude care-seeking behaviors evaluated. It was found 16.0 % (95% CI, 13.3 %-19.1%) with SUI remaining predominant subtype (7.0%) 2021, followed by MUI (6.5%) UUI (1.9%). absolute number Chinese adult women 85.8 million 2021. 52.7% 45.9%-59.4 %) aware medical condition, only 10.1% sought care.
