ABSTRACT
The yearly, total (dry+wet) deposition of inorganic nitrogen (inorg-N) to Norway spruce forests was estimated with a full spatial coverage over Sweden for twenty-year period, 2001-2020, based on combined measurements Teflon string samplers, throughfall and bulk the open field. results were novel method apply estimates dry at limited number sites, larger sites only measurements, in turn existence strong geographical gradient inorg-N from southwest northeast Sweden. should be applicable other regions where gaseous NH3, NO2 HNO3 are not main drivers N gradients could defined. It shown that south receive more than has been previously estimated, modelling. Clear time trends demonstrated decreased all parts decreases somewhat what expected decrease reported emissions Europe. emphasize necessary order map levels follow development forests.
