ABSTRACT
Trends for the atmospheric deposition of sulphur (S) and inorganic nitrogen (inorg-N) to forests changes in forest soil water chemistry Sweden have been assessed since 1985, with special focus on last 25 years, based measurements within Swedish Throughfall Monitoring Network (SWETHRO). The reductions S inorg-N southern part corresponded relatively well pollutant emission from both EU27 + UK during 1996/97–2021/22. For northern decreased a lesser extent than European emissions. bulk NO3-N has more NH4-N over 25-year period, which is consistent much larger NOx compared NH3 Sweden. concentrations water, at 50 cm below surface, however somewhat less deposition. At sites low ANC pH beginning increase was generally greater smaller, but high above zero, dominant, line nonlinear relationship between water. incidence elevated highest southwest Sweden, ranging 4 19 % all measuring occasions 1985/86. reduced N 35-year period not reflected time.
