ABSTRACT
Model Fe–20Cr (wt.%) alloy, exposed to Ar–20CO2 at 650 °C, formed a protective Cr2O3 scale, but nonetheless carburized. Atom probe analysis shows that carbon penetrates the scale via oxide grain boundaries.
