ABSTRACT
Energy system modelling may support policymakers in their energy planning efforts. modellers usually identify the optimal configuration based on an economic objective function, or multi-objective optimization, a combination of multiple objectives such as greenhouse gas emissions and total cost. However, there could be political, socio-economic, environmental reasons justifying policymaker's selection solution that is slightly more costly polluting than uniquely solution. Solely focusing disregards potentially diverse alternatives, which different evaluation metrics even preferable. In response to this challenge, near-optimal solutions gaining attention field extension traditional optimization studies way bridge gap between simulation approaches. study, we explore solutions, outline diversity evaluate relevance these context planning. The proposed methodology applied Italian case determine its potential tool evaluating scenarios from solutions.
