ABSTRACT
Magnesium (Mg) alloy has received thorough attention in the biomedical field due to its excellent mechanical properties, good biocompatibility, and biodegradability. However, Mg usually shows excessive degradation rate physiological environment owning active chemical nature. At same time, hydrogen generated by of will increase pH local tissues, which harm growth surrounding tissues. Given above problems, it become a research hotspot obtain various properties for clinical application surface modification. In this paper, coatings are reviewed according different types, including metals (metal oxides, metal hydroxides), inorganic non-metals, polymers (synthetic natural polymers), composite coatings. The preparation methods, corrosion resistance, biocompatibility types discussed, development prospect is also predicted.
