ABSTRACT
Green and environmentally friendly approaches are increasingly necessary when developing new analytical methodologies. Electromembrane extraction (EME) has contributed to this by offering alternatives the traditional widely used plastic materials. Specially, those derived from biopolymers (such as agarose or chitosan) have recently gained a great importance in EME they biodegradable sustainable, which constitutes major advantage environmental impact of these processes. This review is intended cover recent advances made on procedures based use sustainable biopolymer-based materials addressing properties synthesis well their application. Extraction devices methods will be extensively discussed, highlighting strengths weaknesses, aiming at improving methodologies for sample processing, while contributing sustainability.
