ABSTRACT
In view of the huge contribution transportation to global greenhouse gas emissions, it is imperative embrace more carbon-efficient modes support our environmental goals. However, few studies offer empirical evidence evaluate potential shifting model for carbon emissions reduction. This paper, aiming at addressing this gap, conducts an study assess CO2 reduction through modal shift from road waterway transport (MSRW). It utilizes primary data collected than 200 voyages 92 enterprises one national pilot project on emission in Quzhou region initiated by Chinese central government. Specifically, employs analysis based bottom-up methodologies investigate MSRW. The results reveal that MSRW can aid benefit 45,907 tons within scope. When considering factors such as distance and voyage density, provides new quantitative insights into advantages water over terms under different scenarios. Consequently, makes contributions quantification benefits investigated region/city derive shift. thereby lays groundwork effective cost-benefit policy implementation toward cleaner transportation.
