ABSTRACT
The paper proposes a reflection on the superblock model - or supermanzana, in its well-known Spanish application context of debate 15-minute city and functional reorganization mobility public space to improve quality life, health accessibility urban areas. impacts car traffic livability cities neighborhoods, terms safety, air pollution, noise, but also consumption space, are widely acknowledged. These issues not new debate: since first decades 20th century, with advent rapid diffusion automobile, concerns vehicular separation have been raised by transport planners. As consequence, various models neighborhood planning emerged, proposing solutions limit these impacts. supermanzana takes up principles identifying main road network setting system superblocks within meshes this network, order accessibility, equity, livability; it aims one hand transform spaces at level other reorganize existing structure. Barcelona offers an interesting contribution city, showing how principle can be applied existing, dense contexts, reclaiming more livable neighborhoods sustainable cities. analysis case study contribute research policy, learning from experience especially critical that emerged.
