ABSTRACT
The surface morphology of LiMn2O4 films grown on different substrates from pulsed laser deposition techniques has been studied. Results show that not only the substrate determines the film quality, but also the laser energy and the pulse frequency are very important to the surface morphology. The films grown on the SrTiO3 (100) Surface show preferred (400) and (111) orientations, while the films grown on the stainless steel have no preferred orientations. With the well-prepared film grown on SrTiO3 (100) surface, the optical absorption curve has been measured and the absorption edge shows that the band gap of LiMn2O4 is about 1.2 eV, indicating typical semi-conductive property.
