ABSTRACT
Endemic measles persists in China, despite >95% reported coverage of two measles-containing vaccine doses and nationwide campaign that vaccinated more than 100 million children 2010. In 2011, almost half the 9943 cases China occurred eligible for vaccination. We conducted a case-control study during 2012–2013 to identify risk factors infection aged 8 months–14 years. Children with laboratory-confirmed were age- neighborhood-matched three controls. interviewed parents case control infants on potential measles. calculated adjusted matched odds ratios 95% confidence intervals factors. attributable fractions could be interpreted as causal efficacy (VE) containing (MCV) used Chinese immunization program. all, 969 case-patients 2845 controls enrolled. multivariable analysis, lack vaccination both overall (mOR 22.7 [16.6, 31.1] when stratified by region (east region, mOR 74.2 [27.3, 202]; central/western regions 17.4 [12.5, 24.3]), hospital exposure 63.0, CI [32.8, 121]), migration among counties (overall 3.0 [2.3, 3.9]) significant The VE was 91.9–96.1% single dose MCV 96.6–99.5% 2 doses. Lack leading factor infection, especially born since 2010 supplementary activity. Reducing missed opportunities, improving access migrant children, strengthening school/kindergarten checks are needed strengthen routine program maintain progress toward elimination China.
