ABSTRACT
Determine the impact of upper eyelid weight placement at 3 months post onset idiopathic facial paralysis (IFP) on recovery function in patients with lagophthalmos. This is a retrospective review incomplete IFP-defined as Sunnybrook Facial Grading Scale (FGS) score less than 100, after onset. Only FGS and Clinimetric Evaluation (FaCE) scores recorded 12 were included. Patients categorized into groups: Group A, lagophthalmos placement; B, without C, complete eye closure (CEC) placement. The comfort domain composite FaCE questionnaire analyzed. Voluntary closure, synkinesis overall also Paired two-tailed t-test was used to evaluate data comparing month within between groups. The change significantly increased from A compared B (37 vs 4.25, P = 0.01). While had lower (-12.5, 0.01), voluntary (-1.75, 0.05) (-28.75, 0.04) those there no differences these two groups follow-up.For months, early may lead improved months.
