ABSTRACT
Diversity is recognized as a driver of excellence and innovation. Women represent significant part the infectious diseases (ID) hospital epidemiology (HE) workforce. We aimed to assess gender representation among editors top ID HE journals explore potential correlations with first last authors in published articles.Using Scimago Journal & Country Rank, we identified 40 4 high-ranking journals. Editorial members were categorized by decision-making influence (levels I-III). retrieved names corresponding from 12 ID-focused journals' 2019 research articles. Gender assignment for editors, authors, utilized digital galleries manual searches.Among 2,797 44 journals, 33% women. Female varied across editorial levels: 26% at level I, 36% II, 31% III. balance disparities existed accounted 50%, female 2,725 found weak but between editors' authors.Gender journal displayed unevenness, no overt vertical segregation was observed. A generational transition may be underway. Our findings suggest that occurring authors.
