ABSTRACT
Abstract Objective The recent guidelines on management of aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (aSAH) advise pharmacological thromboprophylaxis (PTP) after aneurysm obliteration. However, no study has addressed the safety PTP in aSAH population. Therefore, aim this was to assess early aSAH. Methods Retrospective cohort patients admitted between January 2012 and June 2013 a single high-volume center. Traumatic SAH perimesencephalic were excluded. Patients grouped according timing: group (PTP within 24 hours treatment), delayed started > hours). Results A total 174 (mean age 56.3±12.5 years) during period. Thirty-nine (22%) did not receive PTP, whereas 135 (78%) received treatment or negative angiography. Among who 65 (48%) had an external ventricular drain. Twenty-eight (21%) 107 (79%) PTP. No patient three developed intracerebral hemorrhagic complication. Two required neurosurgical intervention one died. These concomitant dual antiplatelet therapy. Conclusions initiation may be safe ruptured angiogram-negative with diffuse pattern. We suggest caution use agents, because it possibly increases risk for hemorrhage.
