ABSTRACT
Background: The incidence of drug resistant epilepsy (DRE) is around 30% patients with epilepsy. Vagus nerve stimulation (VNS) offered to who are not candidates for resective surgery, however the results lesional cases has been explored previously Methods: study was a retrospective cohort that involved DRE implanted VNS at Epilepsy program Western University, Ontario. We classified our based on brain imaging (L) and nonlesional (NL) Results: median age 31.8 years, 70.69% were females. VNS-L group average years NL 35.2 years. most common abnormality nodular heterotropias 31.34% (n=9). 16 underwent palliative procedures before implantation, 12 in 4 VNS-NL. period follow-up 69.97 months. 62% had seizure reduction 50% or greater, compared 41.38% VNS-NL group. Seizure freedom 10.34% VNS-L, 6.99% Conclusions: This first reporting outcome cases. Our suggest effective. However, large multicenteric needed.
