ABSTRACT
The reflection of a rightward-moving oblique shock (RMOS) belonging to the first family, over an initially steady wave (SOSW) produced by wedge, is studied in this paper. To cover all possibilities, problem divided into pre-shock problem, for which incident assumed reflect pre-interaction part SOSW, and post-shock post-interaction part. Such division, together with definition equivalent defined on reference frame co-moving nominal intersection point two waves, allows us connect patterns six types interference Edney, include type I–VI interferences depending how upstream intersects bow (types I II are regular Mach reflections shocks from opposite sides; III IV have triple points or configuration; V VI irregular same side). We thus able identify possible find their transition conditions. Pre-shock may yield IV, (of Edney's types) I, interferences. Pre- possibly occur at different parts complete configuration one both them. Both condition study numerical simulation used show exist alone coexist, leading various combined reflections.
