ABSTRACT
In two-fluid simulations of gas–solid fluidised beds, the gaseous phase and particulate are modelled as continuous media. The stress exerted by medium on container walls should be to predict accurately bed dynamics. This paper addresses modelling sliding particle–wall contacts in simulations, based reference coupling computational fluid dynamics with discrete element method (CFD-DEM), which individual movement particles is tracked. analysis CFD-DEM highlights complex near-wall behaviour particles, not reproduced models. Nevertheless, shear can expressed total granular pressure within first cell off wall. model validated for simulation a bubbling olefin dense-fluidisation regime.
