ABSTRACT
Abstract Some rare microscopic cycloneuralians are present in the Cambrian of South China, represented by Eopriapulites and Eokinorhynchus (both early Cambrian), fossil embryos Markuelia (middle to late palaeoscolecids (early Cambrian). Among them, relatively diverse abundant. Here, we describe new material three-dimensionally phosphatized from Paibian Stage Wangcun Lagerstätte, western Hunan, China. New includes assignable sp., two other types embryos, three species palaeoscolecids, including Dispinoscolex decorus Duan, Dong, Donoghue, 2012, Schistoscolex hunanensis Austroscolex sinensis species. The palaeoscolecid fragments differ mainly size armor trunk annuli. Since occurred earliest among cycloneuralians, it is proposed here that: (1) originated Fortunian small shelly faunas rather than macrobenthos, (2) ancestral may have simple armor, (3) represents an cycloneuralian.
