ABSTRACT
ABSTRACT We here present a comparison of methods for the pretreatment batch tree rings high-precision measurement radiocarbon at Aarhus AMS Centre (AARAMS), University, Denmark. The aim was to develop an efficient and high-throughput method able pretreat ca. 50 samples time. tested two extracting α-cellulose from wood find most optimal our use. One used acetic acid, other HCl acid delignification. testing conducted on background 14 C samples, in order assess effect different low-activity samples. Furthermore, extracted cellulose fractions were analyzed using Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, which showed successful extraction Cellulose pretreated AARAMS, graphitization analysis these done both AARAMS dating laboratory Lund University compare machine performance. No significant offset found between sets measurements. Based tests, will henceforth use HCI
