ABSTRACT
We aimed to examine the effect of different doses lutein supplementation on visual function in subjects with long-term computer display light exposure. Thirty-seven healthy exposure ranging age from 22 30 years were randomly assigned one three groups: Group L6 (6 mg lutein/d, n 12); L12 (12 13); and Placebo (maltodextrin placebo, 12). Levels serum performance indices such as acuity, contrast sensitivity glare measured at weeks 0 12. After 12-week supplementation, concentrations Groups increased 0.356 (SD 0.117) 0.607 0.176) micromol/l, 0.328 0.120) 0.733 0.354) respectively. No statistical changes baseline observed uncorrected acuity best-spectacle corrected whereas there was a trend toward increase L12. Contrast significance reached most angles significant change over time. Visual who received supplement improved, especially sensitivity, suggesting that higher intake may have beneficial effects performance.
