ABSTRACT
Abstract Apicomplexan parasites have unconventional actins that play a central role in important cellular processes such as apicoplast replication, motility of dense granules, endocytic trafficking and force generation for host cell invasion. In this study, we investigated the actin apicomplexan Neospora caninum – parasite associated with infectious abortion neonatal mortality livestock. was detected identified two bands by one-dimensional (1D) western blot nine spots 2D technique. The mass spectrometry data indicated N. has at least different isoforms, possibly caused post-translational modifications. addition, C4 pan-actin antibody specifically extract. Extracellular tachyzoites were treated toxins act on actin, jasplakinolide cytochalasin D. Both substances altered peripheric cytoplasmic localization tachyzoites. Our findings add complexity to study processes, since multiple functions protein might be regulated mechanisms involving
