ABSTRACT
Abstract The Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS) has been previously associated with Zika virus infection. We analysed the data from all patients GBS diagnosis that were admitted to a referral hospital, in Tapachula City during period January 2013 August 2016, comparing incidence of according temporality outbreak Southern Mexico. Additionally, we described clinical and epidemiological characteristics before or after outbreak. observed sharp increase number hospitalised due time first confirmed cases appeared Clinically zika had more frequently history respiratory/gastrointestinal symptoms significantly recent rash/conjunctivitis. Although cannot affirm increased have specific aetiologic association Zika, our results suggest this Tapachula, might emerging epidemic, locally suggests rare complications acute infections (such as GBS) be useful surveillance systems for infections.
