ABSTRACT
Tonic immobility is a basic defense strategy which has not been studied in depth humans. Data suggest that it may be relatively frequent phenomenon victims of rape and sexual abuse, but its occurrence systematically explored other types trauma. We carried out retrospective study sample 100 university students to establish whether tonic varies depending on the nature worst trauma experienced, defined subjectively by each participant. Immobility was assessed using Scale traumas were modified Traumatic Events Questionnaire. Seventy percent had experienced some kind. There no significant differences between different (e.g., physical assault or aggression, serious accident), except mean score significantly higher group with due physical/psychological abuse than receiving news mutilation, injury, violent sudden death loved one. conclude tentatively typical only traumas, kinds directly as well.
