ABSTRACT
ConspectusMetal-organic frameworks (MOFs) and covalent organic (COFs) are among the most attractive porous materials today. They exhibit outstanding porosity for countless applications such as gas storage, CO2 capture, separation, sensing, drug delivery, catalysis. Moreover, researchers have recently begun to combine MOFs or COFs with other functional obtain composites that boast respective strengths, mitigate weaknesses, of each component, enabling enhanced performance in many aforementioned applications. Accordingly, development methods fabrication MOFs, COFs, related is important facilitating adoption these industry. One promising synthetic technique spray-drying, which already well-integrated manufacturing processes diverse sectors. It enables rapid, continuous scalable production dry microspherical powders a single step, leading lower costs shorter times compared traditional methods. In this Account, we outline our ongoing work on spray-drying synthesis crystalline composites. Versatile tunable, can be adapted perform reactions involving coordination chemistry micrometer spherical beads/superstructures COFs. Likewise, MOF- COF-based synthesized using similar conditions those pure through simple introduction additional into feed precursor solution colloid. Interestingly, also done water, thus providing basis its use green method industrial materials. To date, has been scaled up pilot (kilogram scale) MOFs.
