Zero-Dimensional Zinc Halide Organic Hybrids with Excellent Optical Waveguide Properties

ABSTRACT
Optical waveguide materials are widely used in optical conversion and communication systems, but their harsh preparation conditions limit practical applications. Herein, we present two zero-dimensional organic metal halide hybrids (OMHHs) with excellent properties, which formed by cocrystallization of d10 transition zinc 2,5-bis(4-pyridinium)thiazolo[5,4-d]thiazole (TTz) using a simple solution-based method. Both compounds have the loss coefficient R for (H2TTz)ZnCl4·MeOH (1) being 0.01577 dB·μm–1 at 462 nm (H2TTz)·ZnBr4·MeOH (2) 0.01182 515 nm, respectively. Our work reveals great potential OMHH microcrystals photonic technology also provides new enlightenment application low-loss waveguides.
