ABSTRACT
As novel alternatives to legacy poly- and perfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), ether carboxylic acids (PFECAs) have been widely detected in the environment; however, there is limited information knowledge regarding their bioaccumulation trophic transfer behavior along food chain. This research presents first known published data on characteristics of PFECAs a source-impacted estuary. Elevated PFECA concentrations were observed organisms (for instance, conch, with perfluoro-2-methoxyacetic acid (PFMOAA) concentration reaches up 16 700 ng/g dry weight (dw)), indicating exposure risks consumers. Conch can be acted as potential environmental bioindicator PFMOAA. PFMOAA, hexafluoropropylene oxide trimer (HFPO-TrA) PFOA predominant biotas. On basis magnification factors (TMFs), ≥6 perfluorinated carbons (HFPO-TrA, tetramer (HFPO-TeA) perfluoro (3, 5, 7, 9, 11-pentaoxadodecanoic) (PFO5DoA)) could biomagnified chain (TMF > 1), while PFMOAA least undergone biodilution < 1). seafood an important dietary source protein human, health risk related consuming polluted aquatic products.
