ABSTRACT
Obesity is prevalent in rural areas of China, and there are inconsistent findings regarding the association between metal(loid) exposure risk obesity. Abdominal obesity (AOB), which reflects visceral fat abnormity, a crucial factor studying obesity-related diseases. We conducted study measuring 20 urinary metal(loid)s, 13 health indicators, waist circumference (WC) 1849 participants from 10 China to investigate their relationships. In single models, we found that chromium (Cr) was significantly associated with odds having AOB [adjusted ratio (OR) = 1.81 (95% confidence interval (CI): 1.24, 2.60)]. mixture Cr consistently emerged as top contributor AOB, while overall effect mixed metal(loid)s positive toward OR: 1.33 CI: 1.00, 1.77)], revealed quantile g-computation model. After adjusting for effects other elevation apolipoprotein B systolic blood pressure mediated by 9.7 19.4%, respectively. Our results suggest key contributing prevalence WC gain China.
