ABSTRACT
Second-generation anticoagulant rodenticides (SGARs) are widely used to control rodent populations, resulting in the serious secondary exposure of predators these contaminants. In United Kingdom (UK), professional use and purchase SGARs were revised 2010s. Certain highly toxic have been authorized since then be outdoors around buildings as resistance-breaking chemicals under risk mitigation procedures. However, it is still uncertain whether how regulatory changes influenced birds prey SGARs. Based on biomonitoring UK Common Buzzard (Buteo buteo) collected from 2001 2019, we assessed temporal trend statistically determined potential turning points. The magnitude difenacoum decreased over time with a seasonal fluctuation, while prevalence more brodifacoum, after changes, increased. summer 2016 was identified point for brodifacoum summed that increased this point. This coincided aforementioned changes. Our findings suggest possible shift SGAR decades, which may pose higher risks impacts wildlife.
