ABSTRACT
We assess the effect of CuO nanoparticle (NP) concentration and soil aging time on extractability Cu from a standard sandy (Lufa 2.1). The was dosed with NPs or Cu(NO3)2 at 10 mg/kg 100 total added Cu, then extracted using either 0.01 M CaCl2 0.005 diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid (DTPA) (pH 7.6) extraction fluid selected times over 31 days. For high dose NPs, amount DTPA-extractable in increased 3 wt % immediately after mixing to 38 In contrast, highest initially, decreasing time. increase attributed dissolution soil. This confirmed synchrotron X-ray absorption near edge structure measurements. NP kinetics were modeled by first-order model. Our findings indicate that dissolution, concentration, are important factors influence NP-amended suggest time-dependent series extractions could be developed as functional assay determine rate constant.
