ABSTRACT
To comprehensively clarify human exposure to halogenated flame retardants (HFRs) and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) through dermal uptake hand-to-mouth intake, skin wipe samples from four typical locations 30 volunteers were collected. The total concentration of the target chemicals (24 HFRs 16 PCBs) ranged 203 4470 ng/m2. BDE-209 DBDPE accounted for about 37 40% ∑24HFRs, respectively, PCB-41 PCB-110 dominant PCB congeners, with proportion 24 10%, respectively. Although exhibiting relatively lower concentrations contaminants than bared locations, clothing-covered areas also detected considerable levels PCBs, indicating clothing be a potentially significant source. Significant differences in HFR profiles observed between males females, more lower-volatility male-bared higher-volatility compounds female participants. mean estimated whole-body absorption doses ∑8HFRs ∑16PCBs (2.9 × 10–4 6.7 10–6 mg/kg·d) 1–2 orders magnitude higher ingestion via contact (6.6 10–7 3.1 mg/kg·d). noncarcinogenic health risk resulted oral ∑7HFRs 5.2 0.35,
