ABSTRACT
In this work, the carbothermal reduction and hydrochloric acid leaching were utilized for separation recovery of iron rare earth from Bayan Obo tailings. The effects temperature, addition calcium oxide, reaction time on metallization rate during roasting investigated. results showed that reached 99.67% loss fluorine was less than 1% under optimum conditions a temperature 1100 °C, coal ratio 6.77 wt %, oxide 10 2 h. behavior in magnetic found to be controlled by particle size after grinding. Using ball milling, 98.2% 96.7% Fe separated. A solution with low concentration 3 mol/L used leach exceeded 99%, more 80% other valuable elements also leached out. Finally, residue contained 52.38 % pure fluoride, which can as raw material flotation fluorite.
