ABSTRACT
Bisphenol A polycarbonate (PC) is difficult to crystallize. In this study, it was found that PC could rapidly accomplish melt crystallization only within 8 min by laying poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) film on it. Polarized optical microscope (POM) applied trace the growth of spherulites in PEG/PC double-layer films during isothermal a wide range temperatures, which were above melting temperature for PEG. The dependence spherulitic rate (G) (Tc) followed "bell-shape" curve, just like some other semicrystalline polymers did. PEG laid at 250 °C 5 obtain film, subsequently quenched different Tc's observation its process using POM. It surprising observe significantly improved and time obviously shortened. miscibility blends evaluated applying differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), played crucial role accelerating effect. This method provides an operative way surmount particular disadvantages PC, such as very slow harsh conditions needs crystallize processing.
