ABSTRACT
Rice direct seeding technology has been considered as a promising alternative to traditional transplanting because of its advantages in saving labor and water. However, the poor emergence seedling growth caused by chill stress are main bottlenecks wide-scale adoption direct-seeded rice Heilongjiang Province, China. Here, we found that natural plant regulator guvermectin (GV) effectively improved seed germination under chilling stress. Results from 2 year field trials showed seed-soaking with GV not only enhanced rate but also increased panicle number per grain panicle, resulting 9.0 6.8% increase yield rice, respectively. Integrative physiological, transcriptomic, metabolomic assays revealed promoted mainly enhancing activities α-amylase antioxidant enzymes (superoxide dismutase, peroxidase, catalase), increasing contents soluble sugar protein, improving biosynthesis glutathione flavonoids, well activating gibberellin-responsive transcription factors inhibiting abscisic acid signaling pathway. These findings indicate good potential improve establishment even
