ABSTRACT
Natural A-type procyanidins have shown very interesting biological activities, such as their proven antiadherence properties against pathogenic bacteria. In order to find the structural features responsible for we describe herein design and synthesis of six procyanidin analogues evaluation antimicrobial antibiofilm 12 resistant bacteria, both Gram positive negative, isolated from organic foods. The natural A-2, which had known activity, was also tested a reference compound comparative studies. Within series, analogue 4, NO2 group on ring A, showed highest activity (MIC 10 μg/mL) one best molecules at preventing biofilm formation (up 40% decreases 100 disrupting preformed biofilms reductions 0.1 μg/mL). Structure-activity relationships are analyzed.
