ABSTRACT
Lack of efficient hydrogen storage method is one the technical bottlenecks for implementation energy. Liquid organic carriers (LOHCs), especially N-heterocycles, have been considered as potential candidates both on-board and off-board owing to their low cost, high gravimetric capacity, reversibility, compatibility with existing infrastructures minimal modification. LOHCs however encounter severe kinetic barriers in uptake release processes, thus catalysts are critically needed. Much attention has given design development reversible hydrogenation dehydrogenation N-heterocycles. In this Mini-Review Article, we summarize recent activities advancing those compounds through thermo-, photo-, electrocatalysis, aiming provide a guidance rational catalyst design. At end challenges future research directions field discussed.
