ABSTRACT
Thermally robust phosphor ceramics are an ideal color converter for high-power laser lighting applications. However, high-quality white light is difficult to achieve due the absence of green and red emission materials. AnY3Al5–xGaxO12:Ce3+ (YAGG:Ce3+) ceramic can emit light, while strong oxidizing atmosphere needed suppress Ga evaporation during high-temperature fabrication process, which seriously decrease luminescence efficiency. To enable green-emitting YAGG:Ce3+ material application, we report a composite first achieved fine-grained powders were dispersed into YAG matrix (YAGG:Ce-YAG). The transmittance YAGG:Ce-YAG reach 62% at range 500–800 nm owing similar refractive index structure two phases. resulting also exhibits high external quantum efficiency (EQE = 68.3%) excellent thermal stability (luminescence intensity: 90% retention 200 °C) close those original powders. Furthermore, superior conductivity (9.4 Wm–1 K–1 room temperature), luminous emittance 700 lm/mm2 be under excitation 8.2 W/mm2 blue light. shows promising application as lighting.
