ABSTRACT
Biomaterial-associated infections caused by pathogenic bacteria have important implications on human health. This study presents the design and preparation of a smart surface with pH-responsive wettability. The exhibited synergistic antibacterial function, high liquid repellency against bacterial adhesion highly effective bactericidal activity. wettability can switch reversibly between superhydrophobicity hydrophobicity in response to pH; this controls release. Besides, deposited silver nanoparticles were also responsible for inhibition. Benefiting from excellent repellency, could resist after immersing suspension 10 s (85%) 1 h (71%). Adhered be easily eliminated using during subsequent treatment alkaline suspension, ratio deactivated was above 75%. After pH returned neutral, released surface. showed an improved removal efficiency about 99%. results shed light future applications combining both adhesion-resistant functionalities.
