ABSTRACT
In this work, fluorescent solid carbon dots (CDs) welcome a new member, namely anhydride-terminated CDs, which have photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY) of 28% for orange-emitted CDs at 580 nm in powder form. For the first time, we revealed that electronic coupling functional groups should be crucial factor affecting optical properties CDs. Due to negligible hydrogen bonding interaction between anhydride groups, excitons neighboring is weak, leading high PLQY and an immobile emission peak state. Anhydride-terminated can partly converted into carboxyl-terminated after dispersion ethanol. However, strong carboxyl concentration generates stacking mode J-aggregates, giving rise red-shifted from 450 515 as well quenched fluorescence comparison, useful blue solid-state occurs low sp2 hybridized atoms, possess weak stationary band both solution By adjusting feed ratio reactants, relevant intensities atoms controlled. As result, single-component CD with tunable color orange white light achieved. As-prepared used fabricating light-emitting diodes (LEDs), LEDs, luminescent solar concentrators (LSCs).
