ABSTRACT
Unidirectional liquid spreading without energy input has attracted considerable attention due to various potential applications such as biofluidics devices and self-lubrication. Introducing a surface wettable gradient or asymmetric nanostructures onto the successfully harnessed spread unidirectionally. However, these surfaces are still plagued with problems that restrict their practical applications: fixed state for surface, slowly over short distance. Herein, bioinspired from fast continuous unidirectional water transport on peristome of Nepenthes alata, we report smart temperature-controlled spreading. The artificial was fabricated by grafting thermoresponsive material PNIPAAm PDMS peristome. can be dynamically regulated changing temperature. Besides, is demonstrated remarkable reversibility stability. By investigating relationship between distance wettability, underlying mechanism revealed. This work gives new way achieve control available controllable microfluidics medical devices.
